What We’re Up To
Summer is here! Concerts, cookouts, trips and just being outside. Since we haven’t seen any concerts in person since what, 2019? We’re going hard this year. Beyoncé this week, LL Cool J and friends (TBD) next month. Tony! Toni! Toné! (who just happens to be the subject of our last episode) in September and Wu-Tang Clan, Nas & De La Soul in October. Are y’all hitting any shows this summer? Let us know in the comments!
Have y’all listened to the latest episode yet? If not, here it is for your listening pleasure.
What We’re Watching
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
We had no intentions of watching this in theatres, this was supposed to be a catch it on Disney+ situation, but we arrived in San Francisco early, so we had to waste a couple of hours before our hotel room was ready. We decided to wander around a bit, grab some lunch and then catch a movie, and this was the only one that was playing at noon on a Thursday. This was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. It’s very well done, and you don’t have to be a fan of superhero movies, especially animated ones, to enjoy this.
What We’re Reading
Nothin. It’s summertime. Like Jadakiss said…
😂 We’ll have something for y’all in August though.
What We’re Listening To
The Age Of Pleasure - Janelle Monáe
When you’ve been dancing to Beyoncé’s Renaissance all night, The Age Of Pleasure is the album that you put on the day after when you’re recovering, because your feet hurt from dancing all night. This is sit by the pool somewhere tropical with a colorful drink and/or 💨 music. As we mentioned last month, the rollout for this album had Twitter in shambles and every move Janelle has made since has had the streets acting the same way. What it tells me is, and we know this because we see it on social media every day. A lot of people just don’t like fun, because that’s exactly what this is. And if you like fun, put this in your rotation.

You Down Wit’ O.P.P? (Other People’s Podcasts)
You’ve seen them in this space before, we’re profiling one of our favorite pods, Queue Points. If you’re into what we’re doing with They Reminisce Over You, then you’ll enjoy this too!
Queue Points is a video podcast that celebrates Black Music through meaningful and thoughtful dialogue. The show is hosted by DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray, who are as good as it gets when it comes to podcasting. We were guests on the show in 2022 and were recorded an episode of They Reminisce Over You with them earlier in the year. Check out both of the episodes if you haven’t already! You won’t be disappointed. You should get into their newsletter as well 👉🏾
