Look out weekend
'Cause here I come
This is what we’re on today.
What We’re Up To
Hey y’all!
Hope your summer is going well so far. Now that we’ve gotten past this oppressive heat and humidity of the past 2 weeks, it’s actually pretty nice today. Just in time for Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Man, ain’t nobody calling it that) Caribana weekend.
Since we’re in the middle of our summer break, this weekend we’re bringing back a remixed version of one of our early episodes, “Let It Be Known Then!” about the 1995 Source Awards. If you’ve never seen it, you can check it out here for context before we drop the episode on Sunday.

What We’re Watching
Smoke on Apple TV+
It starts off kinda slow, but if you can power through the first two episodes, it really picks up.
When an arson investigator begrudgingly teams up with a police detective, their race to stop two arsonists ignites a twisted game of secrets and suspicions.
Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett (running a lot, as she does.) are the leads, but Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine is acting his ass off in this. I can’t say too much without spoiling it, but I promise that you’ve never seen him in a role like this. You’re probably thinking, who? You might not remember his name, but you’ve seen him in things, The Chi, Treme, The Lincoln Lawyer and a lot of other stuff over the years. He’s one of those dudes that make you do this when you see him on screen.
He’s also in Dexter: Resurrection right now, but that character is 180 degrees opposite of his character in this, Freddy. Award nominations incoming.
Another fave around these parts, John Leguizamo is in the cast as well, along with Greg Kinnear and My Girl Anna Chlumsky.
