Let's Get It Started
Your party wasn't jumpin' and your DJ was weak!
Y’all can pretend that you weren’t on Hammer like that, “but we don’t believe you, you need more people.” Here’s your mid-week pick me up. “PUMP IT UP!”
What We’re Up To
Hey y’all!
Hope all is well on your side of the inbox. Over here, we’re wrapping up our next episode. We’re getting into Christina’s favorite movie, Love Jones. Looking at this through a 2026 lens leads to an interesting conversation. This one should be out next week.
Since April 2nd was the 30th(!!!) anniversary of the release of Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite, we decided to discuss that album as well as the rest of his discography. We got into our likes and dislikes when it comes to his music. It was a fun one. Tap in below if you haven’t heard it yet.
Because we both like different types of Maxwell songs, for this episode, we each made our own playlists. You can check them out here:

What We’re Watching
Cross Season 2 on Prime Video
We just finished up the second season of Cross, and while there’s a side plot that’s completely useless, it’s still a good watch overall. If you’re into crime shows with a side of psychology, get into it.
A gripping Washington, D.C. crime drama following Alex Cross, a brilliant homicide detective and forensic psychologist with an extraordinary ability to get inside the minds of killers. In Season Two, Cross faces a ruthless vigilante targeting America's corrupt billionaire magnates.
Watch season 2 of Cross here.

What We’re Listening To
New Jack Swing Essentials by Apple Music R&B and and Best New Jack Swing Collection by Spotify
We’ve been on this New Jack Swing kick for a couple days now. The Apple one is almost 8 hours long, so it should get you through a work day. The Spotify one is about 20 hours long, but there’s a bunch of filler. If you want to just let something rock for the entire week, go with that one. Apple gets straight to the hits.
Check out New Jack Swing Essentials here and Best New Jack Swing Collection here.

Love Trapped by Glass Podcasts
I’ve never watched The Bachelor (we’re a Flavor of Love household) or even heard of the drama in this story, but we’ve been listening for a few weeks now, and it has been a wild ride so far. We had no idea that there could be a true crime element associated to this show, but here we are.
Former Bachelor Clayton Echard’s casual one-night fling turned into a paternity nightmare. When the news broke about the scandal, no one believed Clayton at first. He was a reality TV star, and an unpopular one at that. Clayton found himself trying to prove the truth, while trapped in a web of lies, manipulation, and threats. He would soon discover he was not the only one.
At its core, this is a story about who you believe and why. It’s an epic battle that would take a group of strangers, citizen sleuths from across the world, to crack the case and finally hold someone accountable.

Random Internet Shenanigans
Not really sure why Verzuz is still a thing, but it is. And with Tank and Tyrese involved, foolishness ensued. “Tur-tle-neck.”
Closing Time
That’s it for now, let’s meet back here again next month.
